[edit] Biographical Information

Daniel "Danny" Morejon had a long baseball career, reaching the majors in 1958.

Morejon was born in Havana, Cuba in July 1930. By age 23 he was in the minors, playing at first for Portsmouth. In 1955, he was MVP in the Carolina League and in part of 1956 he was back in his hometown playing for the AAA team there. He was with Havana for parts of 1956 to 1960.

In 1958 Daniel came to the majors for 12 games in July and August for the Cincinnati Redlegs. He was five years older than teammate Frank Robinson and eight years older than Vada Pinson, who also made his major league debut that year.

Morejon was the big hero of the 1959 Junior World Series, which Havana won over Minneapolis. Morejon never came back to the majors, but continued to play in the minors throughout the 1960s, including in Mexico, where he became a star at a late age.

He worked in Miami for thirty years after his playing days and died there in 2009.

He is sometimes called "Danny", other times "Dan", and yet other times "Daniel".
