He was head coach of Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1947-1948. He then spent many years as a scout for the New York Yankees (1964-1966) and Boston Red Sox (?-1963, 1967-199?). He signed Ellis Burks, Steve Crawford, and Bob Zupcic among others.
