Daniel Okrent
- Born April 2, 1948 in Detroit, MI USA
Dan Okrent is an American editor and author. He has worked for several organizations. Currently, he is the ombudsman for the New York Times.
Okrent is responsible for the first rotisserie baseball league, now known as fantasy baseball. The name of the league comes from La Rotisserie Française, the restaurant where the first teams were drafted in 1979. Okrent has said he is appalled by the volume of teams, especially in the internet age.
In 1983, Okrent published Nine Innings based on a 1982 Orioles-Brewers game. He was also prominently featured in Ken Burns' Baseball.
