Dane Sardinha hit .308 and slugged .846 for Team USA in the 1996 World Junior Championship. He led the team with 2 home runs, including a 3-run shot that was key to winning the Bronze Medal game against Taiwan. He led the club with 6 RBI as well despite splitting catchies duties with Josh Bard, who was named to the tourney All-Star team instead.
Sardinha was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd round of the 2000 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Craig Kornfeld and made his pro debut the next summer.
Sardinha is the brother of Bronson Sardinha and Duke Sardinha.
