Dana Williams was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 1983 and reached the majors in 1989, earning his only big league hit off pitcher Allan Anderson of the Minnesota Twins on June 25th. Later that year, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox organization, and he eventually also played in the Chicago Cubs farm system. He ended his playing career in the independent leagues in 1995.
With his playing days behind him, Williams was the hitting coach for the Sioux City Explorers of the independent Northern League in 1996. He was a member of the Lancaster JetHawks staff in 1997 and was with the AZL Mariners the following year. After returning to Lancaster for two seasons, he spent 2001 with the San Bernardino Stampede. From 2002 to 2004, he was a coach with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He made his managerial debut after that, leading the AZL Mariners for two years. In 2007, Williams is slated to return to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
