[edit] Biographical Information
Dan Pasqua played ten seasons in the majors, all for the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. He had 117 lifetime home runs, although he never had 500 at-bats in one season and only twice had 400 at-bats.
Pasqua, who was born in Yonkers, is the only major leaguer to come out of William Paterson University, which he attended in 1980-82. He played primarily in Single A ball in 1982-83, and in Double A in 1984. In 1985 he slugged almost .600 in Triple A, which got him a chance at the bigs.
Although he spent most of 1986 and 1987 in the majors, he continued to spend around a month each year in the minors at Columbus, showing power.
Pasqua's best year with the bat in the majors was 1986, when he hit .293 and slugged .525. He filled out an outfield with two future Hall of Famers, Rickey Henderson and Dave Winfield, and had a better batting average and slugging percentage than either of them.
Pasqua's hitting dropped off with the Yankees in 1987, and the Yanks traded him to the White Sox to get Richard Dotson. Pasqua spent the rest of his major league career with the White Sox. His best years were 1990, when he slugged .495, and 1991, when he hit 18 home runs in 417 at-bats.
He hit a triple in the last game the White Sox played in the old Comiskey Park.
He hit his only career grand slam on April 11, 1992 as a member of the Chicago White Sox against the Oakland A's. The pitcher was Dave Stewart.
He attended North Valley Regional High School at Tappan.
