Dan J. Kolb enters his 7th season in professional baseball in 2007.
Kolb was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 24th pick in the 2001 amateur draft. He debuted that year with the Ogden Raptors, going 4-0 with a 7.12 ERA.
In 2002, Kolb pitched for the Beloit Snappers, with a 8-0 record and 4.00 ERA. He struck out 114 batters in 119 1/3 IP. The next year, he made it up to high class A but struggled mightily for the High Desert Mavericks. He went 6-12 with a 6.42 ERA. Opponents hit .311 against him. He tied John Barnett for the California League lead in losses and led the league in hits allowed (194), runs allowed (118), earned runs allowed (107) and home runs allowed (24). He had the 3rd-worst ERA in US-based affiliated minor leagues. It was a stark contrast from what the other Dan Kolb was doing in the Milwaukee bullpen.
In 2004, Kolb returned to High Desert and improved somewhat, going 3-3 with 3 saves and a 5.42 ERA.
The Montréal Expos selected Kolb in the minor league portion of the Rule V Draft. He was assigned to the Potomac Cannons and had a 4-3 record with 3 saves and a 5.62 ERA. In 2006, Kolb pitched for Potomac (0 R in 11 IP) and the Harrisburg Senators (4-2, 8 Sv, 3.66, 82 K in 78 2/3 IP, .211 opponent average).
Kolb has pitched for Potomac and Harrisburg in April of 2007.
