Pitcher Dan Carlson was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 33rd round of the 1989 amateur draft and played eight seasons in their organization. He was then selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1997 expansion draft, and after one year there, he was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks and played three seasons in their system.
Since his playing days ended, Carlson has been a minor league coach in the Diamondbacks organization.
