Outfielder Dallas Williams was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 1976 amateur draft. He had a cup of coffee with the team in 1981 after leading the International League with 51 SB. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for catcher Joe Nolan before the next season. In 1983, he led the American Association in hitting with the Indianapolis Indians and was called up by the Reds at the end of the season. He won another batting title with the Indians in 1987 but never returned to the major leagues as a player.
For more than a decade, Williams coached in the minors. From 2000 to 2002, he was the first base coach for the Colorado Rockies, and he held the same position with the Boston Red Sox in 2003.
