The Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs began play in the Texas League in 1965. Representing the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, they played their home games in Turnpike Stadium (later known as Arlington Stadium) in Arlington, Texas. After the 1971 season, the Washington Senators moved to Texas and became the Texas Rangers, and the Spurs ended their existence. A farm team for the Baltimore Orioles for three years, The Spurs spawned future major league stars like Bobby Grich, Don Baylor, and Wayne Garland.
