Daiki Enokida pitched for Tokyo Gas in the industrial leagues after college. The Hanshin Tigers took him in the first round of the 2010 draft. He joined the Japanese national team for the 2010 Asian Games. He throws a slider, sinker, curveball, splitter and fastball (peak 90 mph). He debuted on April 16, relieving Bobby Messenger and tossing shutout ball in the 6th and 7th against the Chunichi Dragons; he walked two, allowed one hit and hit a batter. He also struck out two before Tomoyuki Kubota replaced him on the mound. He had a great rookie year at 3-3 with a save and a 2.27 ERA in 62 games. He allowed a .201 average and fanned 71 in 63 1/3 IP. He was 10th in the Central League in appearances in 2011. He got 7 votes for the 2011 Central League Rookie of the Year Award, second-most but 228 behind Hirokazu Sawamura.
