The DSL Blue Jays returned in 2009 after having played in 1988-1990 and 1995-2006. The team was replaced by two different DSL Blue Jays teams in the Dominican Summer League -- DSL Blue Jays 1 and DSL Blue Jays 2 in 2007-2008, a division which had been made previously in 1991 and 1994. In 1992 and 1993, the Blue Jays fielded DSL Blue Jays East and DSL Blue Jays West. Additionally, the Blue Jays fielded a co-op team with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1990, the DSL Blue Jays/Brewers.

The team has produced players such as Domingo Cedeno, Robert Perez, Giovanni Carrara, Tilson Brito, Freddy Garcia, Julio Mosquera, Edwin Hurtado, Kelvim Escobar, Beiker Graterol, Miguel Gómez, Gustavo Chacin and Robinzon Díaz.
