Cut-off man

The cut-off man is the player who takes a throw from an outfielder and relays it on to its final target. Typically, a cut-off man is the middle man on a throw to the catcher on a ball that was hit deep into the outfield. The inability to "hit" a cut-off man is often cited as a key in baseball fundamentals.
