Curt Coleman was the first major leaguer to come from the University of Oregon. He was there at the same time as Byron Houck, who made his debut in the majors a month after Coleman did.

He played several years in the minors with Tacoma. According to the Sporting Life of June 22, 1912, when he was sold to Atlanta he refused "to play in the South", and went home to Portland.
He was generally referred to as Curtis, not Curt.
