After playing baseball and basketball at the University of Oregon, Curt Barclay , 6'3" right-hander turned down an offer from the Boston Celtics to sign with the New York Giants. After Military Service in the Korean conflict Barclay led the 1954 Carolina League in wins with 19, and came up with the 1957 Giants in their final season in New york after winning 15 games with the AAA Minneapolis Millers in 1956.

He had a record of 9-9 in 1957 including a pair of shutouts as a rookie, but then spent most of the next two years with the Phoenix Giants of the PCL with the exception of a few appearances with the Giants who where now in San Francisco. A shoulder injury to his pitching arm ended his major league mound career with a record of 10 wins, 9 losses and a 3.48 ERA.

Curts 7 year minor league stats were respectable, he put up a 65 won and 65 loss record, pitching in 184 games and 1,126 innings, giving up 1,266 base hits, with 315 base on balls for a 4.04 ERA.

Barclay was at the University of Oregon at the same time as Earl Averill.

Curt died March 27, 1985, at age 53 in Missoula, MT, where he had been employed as a plywood division superintendent for a lumber company.
