 Biographical Information
Cristhian Presichi has played ten minor league seasons (through 2008) and has appeared for Mexico's national team.
Presichi debuted in 1999 with AZL Mexico, hitting .321/~.374/.489. He was 8th in the Arizona League in average and two triples shy of the AZL lead with 6. He led the league's third basemen in fielding percentage (.920), putouts (47) and double plays (14). In 2000, he played for AZL Mexico and batted .326 with 9 home runs, tying Eric Storey for the league lead. He again led league third basemen in double plays (9). He was named to the AZL All-Star team at third base. He made his Mexican League debut with the Saltillo Saraperos, going 5 for 24.
In 2001, Presichi hit .278 with 5 home runs in a limited role for Saltillo. The next year, he batted .339 with 13 homers; had he qualified, he would have been in the league's top 15 in average. He again played a part-time role in 2003 and hit .279 with 12 homers.
Presichi produced at a .327/.406/.544 clip for the 2004 Saraperos. In 2005, Cristhian batted .318/.391/.545 with 15 homers in 85 games. Presichi hit .332/.380/.535 in 2006 with 17 home runs and 16 steals. The next season, he batted .327/.398/.500 but stole only 8 bases in 16 tries. In winter ball, he hit .336/.399/.520 for the Algodoneros de Guasave.. He was third in the Mexican Pacific League in average (.008 behind Carlos Rivera), led in doubles (20) and tied Jorge Padilla for the most runs (45) and won MVP honors.
Presichi was with Mexico for the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament; he hit .300/.391/.400, stole 3 bases in 3 tries and led Mexico with 5 runs. He tied Joo-chan Kim for the tourney lead in steals. Mexico failed to make it to the 2008 Olympics, tying for 4th when the top three teams advanced.
Presichi continued to star for Saltillo in 2008, hitting .351/.411/.558 with 70 runs, 29 doubles, 16 homers, 74 RBI and 18 steals (without being caught once). He was 8th in the league in average, 9th in slugging, tied for 10th in steals, 8th in RBI and 6th in doubles. In the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, he batted .333/.400/.500 with 7 runs in 8 games; he tied for 6th in runs and he stole 3 bases in 4 tries to tie for the most swipes.
