[edit] Biographical Information

Cotton Knaupp played shortstop 21 seasons in Organized Ball from 1908 to 1928. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I (BN). He had two cups of coffee with the Cleveland Naps (1910-1911). After baseball he was a rodman (according to Miriam-Webster Online a rodman is a surveyor's assistant who holds the leveling rod). He died in the VA Hospital in New Orleans, LA from uremia and generalized areteriosclerotic heart disease at age 77 and is buried at Burial Park South in San Antonio, TX.

Knaupp turned the only unassisted triple play in Southern Association history while playing second base for the New Orleans Pelicans on August 8, 1916 against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
