Pitcher Cory Wade was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the tenth round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Marty Lamb and made his pro debut that summer with the GCL Dodgers and went 2-1 with a 3.03 ERA in 11 appearances before being promoted to the Ogden Raptors, where he was 1-2 with a 5.14 ERA in 8 games. He began the next year with the Columbus Catfish, for whom he was 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA in 12 games, and then got sent back to Ogden, where he went 2-3 with a 4.35 ERA. He began 2006 with Columbus again and posted a 6-5 mark and a 4.96 ERA in 23 outings there before being promoted to the Vero Beach Dodgers, where he was 2-4 with an 8.24 ERA in 7 starts.

Wade started the 2007 campaign with the Inland Empire 66ers and was 7-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 6 saves in 25 games there. In July, he was sent to the AA Jacksonville Suns, where he put up an 0-1 record and a 1.36 ERA in 14 games. After beginning 2008 back with Jacksonville, he was called up to the Dodgers and made his big league debut on April 24th, pitching a scoreless inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
