[edit] Biographical Information
Corey Patterson stole 85 bases over his last two high school seasons. He was one of the most highlu-touted prospects in baseball when he made his debut with the Chicago Cubs late in the 2000 season. However, he failed to reach the lofty expectations set fo him, in large part because he could never draw enough walks to maintain a league-average on-base percentage. His younger brother, Eric Patterson, debuted in the major leagues in 2007.
He has played for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Baltimore Orioles after starting with the Cubs and spending time with the Cincinnati Reds. On July 27, 2011, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in an eight-player deal that saw the just-acquired Edwin Jackson accompany him to St. Louis, along with Marc Rzepczynski and Octavio Dotel, in return for OF Colby Rasmus and pitchers Trever Miller, Brian Tallet and P.J. Walters.
