[edit] Biographical Information
Born and died in St. Louis, MO, Coonie Blank appeared in only the one season with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1909 at the age of 16. At the time he was the youngest player ever to debut in the modern National League and would continue to be so until 1944. He was the youngest major league catcher of the 20th Century.
A catcher in his only game, the two regular catchers on the team, Ed Phelps and Roger Bresnahan, were both 30 years old.
He is the only major leaguer (through 2008) remembered with the first name Coonie.
