Pitcher Con Dempsey played baseball and basketball at the University of San Francisco and served in the Navy during World War II. Playing for the San Francisco Seals, he led the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts in 1948 and 1949. He had a cup of coffee in the majors with the 1951 Pittsburgh Pirates. After his baseball career ended, he was a junior high teacher and coach for many years.
