 Biographical Information
Catcher Clyde Kluttz played nine seasons in the big leagues, getting between 144 and 303 at-bats in a season. He played on the 1946 World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals although he did not appear in the Series.
He was in the minors at various times between 1938 and 1954. In 1941, with Sacramento, he hit .336 and the next year he was in the majors.
Kluttz managed the Savannah Athletics in 1954-1955. He then was a scout for the Kansas City A's (1956-1966) and New York Yankees (1967-1975). He also spent time with the Yankees as director of player development in 1971-1973 and Scouting Director in 1974. Kluttz moved to the Baltimore Orioles as director of player development from 1976 to 1979.
He was the brother of Alvin Kluttz.
