Cliff Ditto did not play pro baseball but managed and scouted for many years. He spent 1969 to 1981 as a scout for the San Diego Padres and 1982 to ?? scouting for the Montreal Expos. Ditto signed Tony Gwynn, Ozzie Smith, Tim Flannery and Randy Jones for the Padres and Randy Johnson for the Expos [1] [2]. Ozzie mentioned Ditto in his Hall of Fame speech [3]. Ditto also manged in the Padres chain for eight years, aptly managing at Walla Walla.

Ditto was the brother-in-law of Duke Snider [4].
