Clemens Cichocki is a former MVP of the Austrian Baseball League.
Cichocki was likely one of the first Austrian players to make it to US college baseball. He debuted for the Austrian senior national team in the 2002 EuropeanChampionship B-Pool and played in the same event in 2006. He returned to Austria after college and was MVP of the Austrian Baseball League in 2007. He hit .413 and went 10-1 with a 2.52 ERA, leading the league in wins, finishing 5th in ERA and just missing the top five in batting average. In the 2007 European Championship, he went 2 for 11 with two walks; on the mound, he was 0-2 with 8 runs allowed in 2 2/3 IP for the second-worst ERA on Austria (hardly a powerhouse).
Cichocki signed with Germany's Haar Disciples for 2008 but disappointed. He hit .159/.250/.195 with 29 K in 82 AB, splitting time between first base and right field. He also pitched, going 0-3 with a 11.05 ERA. He allowed 45 hits and 21 walks in 29 1/3 innings, finishing 5th in the Bundesliga south in earned runs allowed (36) despite ranking 28th in innings pitched. In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers, he went 6 for 14 with a double, 3 walks and 9 runs but Austria missed out on a spot in the 2010 European Championship; he did not pitch in that event.
Cichocki returns to Austria's Superfund Warriors for 2009.
