Cláudio Kenji Yamada

Cláudio Yamada has pitched for the Brazilian national team. He was with them for the 1999 Pan American Games, 2003 Baseball World Cup and 2007 Pan American Games. In the 2003 Cup, he was 2-1 with a 1.19 ERA, striking out 19 in 21 innings and tying Kleber Ojima for the team lead in wins. Yamada struck out 13 in a game against the Chinese national team for the best strikeout game of the event; he pitched a shutout, one of two in the Cup; Len Picota threw the other one. He topped South Korea in the 7th/8th place game in an upset. He tied for 4th in the Cup in wins and was 4th in strikeouts, trailing Vicyohandri Odelin, Jae-young Lee and Norge Vera. In the 2007 Pan Am Games, he threw six shutout innings against Nicaragua before Ojima wrapped up the win. Yamada got the victory, Brazil's lone win in the 2007 Games.
