Ciudad del Carmen is located in the southern Mexican state of Campeche, on the Yucatan Peninsula, on a thin island between the Gulf of Mexico to the north and the Laguna de Terminos to the south. It is 90 miles north-east of Villahermosa, Tabasco and 120 miles south-west of the state capital Campeche.
