Ciudad Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, named for a former President of Mexico (1964-1970), is located in the north-eastern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, on the Rio Grande River. It is 15 miles south-east of Rio Grande City, TX and 20 miles west of Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
