Cincinnati Buckeyes
From BR Bullpen
The Cincinnati Buckeyes played in the Negro American League in 1942 before the club moved from Cincinnati, OH to Cleveland, OH and became the Cleveland Buckeyes. Walter Burch began the season as manager but was later replaced by 3B Parnell Woods. OF Sam Jethroe hit .487 for the team, which went 12-8. Eugene Bremer was 5-1 and Willie Jefferson 4-0. The team lost two players in a tragic accident in September when the bus broke down. While players were standing off to the side of the road, a car smashed into them and killed Buster Brown and Smoky Owens and fracturing the skill of Bremer.
