Chuck Murphy was a longtime president of the Florida State League.
A New York native, Murphy attended Michigan State University and then spent 21 years in the Army, serving in Vietnam. Following his time in the military, he went to work for the Evansville Triplets, eventually becoming the team's General Manager. He then spent time as GM of the Daytona Beach Islanders before becoming FSL President in 1990. He served in that capacity until his death in 2015.
"Chuck Murphy was a very special person and a tremendous friend... What he did for professional baseball and the Florida State League was amazing. I spent 20 years managing, and my best times were managing in the FSL with Chuck Murphy as president." - Dave Trembley
