Chuck Machemehl, who played one year in the majors for the 1971 Cleveland Indians, is a successful businessman in Texas, involved in real estate, oil and gas, and ranching. He serves on the Board of the Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative. His biography at the Cooperative's website says he served 7 years in the military. He was at Texas Christian University at the same time as Jeff Newman.
On March 27, 1971 (spring training), Dick Tidrow and Machemehl combined to three-hit the Oakland Athletics, beating Denny McLain.
