[edit] Biographical Information
Chuck Kress was a first baseman 17 seasons from 1940 to 1959, four in the Major Leagues and 16 in the minors. He had his best M.L. season in 1949 when he played regularly; yet, he still recorded only one career home run. He lost three years to U.S. Army military service during World War II (1943-1945). Kress played for the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers and Brooklyn Dodgers from 1947 to 1954.
