[edit] Biographical Information

Chuck Essegian played in the 1952 Rose Bowl while a student at Stanford University.

A member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Essegian belted a record two pinch-hit home runs during the 1959 World Series against the Chicago White Sox, helping the Dodgers to a 4-2 Series victory. He was a substitute for most of his career, until getting a semi-regular job as an outfielder for the Cleveland Indians in 1962, when he hit 21 home runs in 336 at bats. That prompted the Kansas City Athletics to acquire him and install him as a starting outfielder in 1963, but he promptly demonstrated that the previous year had been a fluke, hitting only .225 with 5 home runs in 101 games. That was his final season in the major leagues.

He has been a longtime California attorney.
