Christian Wise, brother of Brendan Wise, pitched for the New Zealand national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, allowing one run in 1 2/3 IP over two games. In his first outing, he relieved Makauley Fox-Rolfe with a 10-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th against Thailand. He allowed a leadoff single to Johnny Damon then threw a wild pitch. Yong Min Lee replaced him at that point and ended the threat. In his second game, Wise replaced Lincoln Holdzkom with a 9-0 deficit, two on and two out in the 7th against Taiwan. He walked Chih-Sheng Lin then retired Szu-Chi Chou. In the 8th, he retired Yung-Chi Chen and Bing-Yen Lee before giving way to Landon Adelman.
