Chris Saenz was called up from AA ball to make an emergency start in April 2004. He did a great job, holding the St. Louis Cardinals to two hits over six innings for his first major-league victory. He suffered a major arm injury later in the 2004 season, however, and underwent Tommy John surgery in September. In December 2004, he was non-tendered, making him a free agent.

Saenz is trying to make it back to the majors, and is currently a pitcher for the Arkansas Travelers, the AA affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. He has been ineffective through the midpoint of the 2007 season.
