Chris Gissell pitched 5 games for the 2004 Colorado Rockies. Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1996 in the 4th round, he was in their organization through 2002, primarily as a starter. He had a couple good years at Colorado Springs in the PCL when the Rockies signed him, going 8-4 with a 3.55 ERA in 2003 and 14-2 with a 3.67 ERA in 2004.
In 2005 he again had a decent ERA, 3.54, with Memphis in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
In 2006 he pitched for the Seibu Lions in Japan.
Gissell joined the Uni-President Lions of Taiwan in 2009. He debuted on March 29, fanning 8 and allowing one unearned run in six innings but losing a pitching duel to Yu-Cheng Liao.
