[edit] Biographical Information

Chris Carter made his debut with the Boston Red Sox on June 5, 2008 playing left field; he went 2 for 3 and scored 2 runs against the Tampa Bay Rays. He had been called up two days earlier when designated hitter David Ortiz went on the disabled list. However, Carter was sent back down shortly after his successful debut after Coco Crisp was served with an 8-game suspension for initiating a bench-clearing crawl against the Rays. Carter was replaced on the roster by Brandon Moss because the latter was capable to play centerfield. He was drafted in the 17th round of the 2004 amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
