Aure hit .475 and was 3-1 as a high school senior. He was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 15th round of the 2008 amateur draft, the highest an Alaskan had been picked in 7 years. He debuted with the 2008 GCL Pirates, going 3-2 with 2 saves and a 3.90 ERA in 11 games (3 starts).

Aure has a tattoo describing him as "Alaska's Finnest" due to a typo.
