[edit] Biographical Information

Chris Hoiles hit two Grand Slams in one game on August 14, 1998. This has only happened three times since he did it - Fernando Tatis and Nomar Garciaparra both did it in 1999, while Bill Mueller did it in 2003.

Hoiles became only the fourth AL catcher to bat at least .300 and hit at least 25 home runs in the season when he did it in 1993. One of the others to do it was Yogi Berra, who did it in 1950. Also in 1993, he drove in six runs in one game and he also earned a Player of the Week honor in late June when he batted .565.

After retirement Hoiles was honored by induction into the Eastern Michigan University Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. Hoiles was named the inaugural manager of the York Revolution of the Atlantic League in December 2006, a position he held until his dismissal in 2009.
