[edit] Team History
Originaly formed as a founding member of the independent Frontier League, the Chillicothe Paints are a Summer Collegiate Baseball team in the Prospect League. The Paints joined the Frontier League for the circuit's inaugural season of 1993 and were the longest-lived of the circuit's original teams, lasting until the 2008 season. However, with the league moving from small midwestern towns to the suburbs of larger cities, Chillicothe had problems competing and folded after the 2008 season, to be replaced by a team based in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH.
In 2000, former Paints pitcher Brian Tollberg became the first Frontier League alum to make the major leagues. The team played its home games in V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio which was at one time the capital of Ohio. The team chose the Paints team name and logo to stay within the League's Frontier theme. The Paint horse has been documented as the prefered horse of the Native Americans that resided in what is now south-central Ohio. The Paint horse is known for its combination of versatility, strength and aggressiveness.
Following the 2008 season the Paints left the Frontier League and joined the Summer Collegiate Prospect League along with the Slippery Rock Sliders, who are also a former Frontier League Team. This new phase in the life of the Chillicothe Paints will mark a new era in the life of Chillicothe baseball.
