Chet Ross played for the Boston Bees / Boston Braves from 1939-44. His one full season as an everyday player was in 1940, when he hit 14 triples (second in the league) and 17 home runs (eighth in the league) and also led the league in strikeouts. He was a left fielder.

Ross and Huck Geary came from the same neighborhood in Buffalo and played on the same American Legion team. In 1937, Ross played in the Middle Atlantic League.

He played baseball on a service team while in the Navy during World War II, but an injury hurt his chances of coming back to the majors.

He ended up his minor league career with the Montreal Royals.

After his baseball days Ross went back to live in the Buffalo area.
