Chauncey Fisher pitched for five teams in five major league seasons. His best year was for the 1896 New York Giants managed by player-manager Buck Ewing. Fisher went 10-7 that year with 2 saves, on a team that had a record of 77-50. The next year, 1897, Fisher was traded for Tommy Corcoran and went 9-7 for the 1897 Brooklyn Bridegrooms.
Although Fisher did not have a good year in 1894, he nevertheless was able to stop Bill Dahlen's 42-game hitting streak, along with pitcher Henry Fournier in a game on August 7, 1894.
In 1900, Fisher pitched for the Chicago American League team in the year before the league became a major league.
He is said to have played right field in 1891 in the first-ever professional baseball game played in Appleton, WI. Joe Wright played center field.
