[edit] Team History

After the 2008 season, the Vero Beach Devil Rays moved to Port Charlotte, FL and became the Charlotte Stone Crabs. In July of 2015, the team received some coverage when a live ten-foot alligator was found in the visitor's dugout at Charlotte Sports Park. No one was quite sure how it had wandered into the ballpark from a nearby park, but it was safely removed by county employees.
