[edit] Biographical Information
Charlie Frye started in organized baseball in 1937 with Mooresville NC in the Class D North Carolina State League. He played for Evansville IN, in the Class B 3-I League, Martinsville VA in the Bi-State League, but it was while with Portsmouth VA in the Piedmont League in 1940 that he impressed the Phillies and was bought by them in July and appeared in 15 games. He went back to the minors and was with Allentown PA and Wilmington DE of the Class B Interstate League until he went into the Army. Shortly after being discharged in 1945 he died.
