[edit] Biographical Information

Charley Frisbee played on the 1899 Boston Beaneaters, hitting .329. He also appeared in four games the following season with the 1900 New York Giants. In the minors he hit over .300 each year from 1896-99 before he came to the majors.

Through 2011 he is the first of two players to come to the majors out of Grinnell College. He is the only major league player born in Dows, IA and the only major leaguer born in Iowa in 1874, although Fred Clarke was born in Iowa a couple years earlier in 1872. Charley is the only major leaguer with the last name Frisbee, and the only major leaguer with the nickname "Bunt".

"Jimmy Williams, Jimmy Slagel (sic) and Charley Frisbee are covering themselves with glory and receive liberal as well as favorable mention wherever they go." - Sporting Life, Sept. 3, 1898, about three players on the Kansas City Blues
"Charley Frisbee is playing great ball for Leonard's team. He is batting in his old-time form, is a heady man on the bases and a fielder par excellence." - Sporting Life, May 31, 1902, about his play for Worcester, a team with mostly former and future major leaguers on it
