Charlie Eden played four years in the majors, achieving some success in 1879 and 1884 due his ability to hit for some power. He led the National League in doubles in 1879.
Eden was mostly an outfielder but pitched in a few games and was also occasionally a left-handed third baseman or catcher.
One source says he played for Winona and St. Paul in 1877. League Alliance 1877
The book Cleveland, The Making of a City, says that Eden was on a professional team in Cleveland that was formed in 1878.
