Pitcher Charlie Corbell was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 21st round of the 1983 amateur draft. He reached AAA in 1987, then in March of 1988 was traded to the Oakland A's for struggling A ball pitcher Rod Beck. He pitched a total of 20 games in 1988-1989 in the A's chain, largely at AA before retiring.

Corbell was a pitching coach in the Washington Nationals chain for five seasons before moving to the Florida Marlins organization. He was the pitching coach for the Jamestown Jammers in 2007-2008 and the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2009.
