Charlie Brewster appeared in only 69 games in the majors but did so for four different teams. He originally came to the majors after being with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1942. In 1944, he had been with the Nashville Vols, hitting .341, when bought by the Chicago Cubs.

Quite a few Cubs players started the 1945 season as holdouts, and Brewster's absence from spring training was interpreted as possibly another holdout, according to the book "Wrigley Field's Last World Series".

He was later a minor league manager.
