Charlie Swindells, the first player out of Stanford University to break into the major leagues, played three games in the major leagues in 1904.

He was at Stanford in 1898-99. Swindells played in the minors from 1899 on, mostly on the West Coast. In 1904, when he wasn't in the majors he was playing for Butte of the Pacific National League, on a team which also featured former major leaguer Walt Wilmot.

Charlie played through 1907 in the minors and also managed in 1907 at Spokane.

The regular catcher for the 1904 St. Louis Cardinals was 34-year-old Mike Grady who hit .313. Grady would keep the job in 1905-06.
