The Charleston RiverDogs play in the Class A South Atlantic League. The club became a New York Yankees affiliate in 2005. Since 1997, they have played their home games at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Ballpark in Charleston, South Carolina. Prior to becoming the RiverDogs in 1994, the team was known as the Charleston Royals from 1980 to 1984 and the Charleston Rainbows from 1985 to 1993.
