Along with John McGraw and Francis McQuade, Charles Stoneham purchased the New York Giants from the family of John Brush in 1919. Under his ownership, the club won the World Series in 1921, 1922, and 1933, and captured National League pennants in two other seasons. Upon his death in 1936, his son Horace Stoneham became the team's primary owner.
